Permanent ice rinks
What can stay in service, and what needs replacing?
A permanent rink rarely replaces its entire hire fleet at once. Certain sizes may wear faster, popular sizes may run short, or liners and buckles may need replacing.
We therefore start with the fleet you already have.

What we look at together
With an existing fleet we look at, among other things:
- the fleet’s age and condition;
- sizes that regularly run short;
- liners and buckles;
- spare parts that are still available;
- what needs attention before next season;
- what can remain in service.
Tell us what you have and what is happening at your rink, and we can give you more focused advice.
Repair first, replace where needed
Wear parts for several Nijdam rental skates are available separately.
Buckles, clips, fixing sets and liners remain available for at least five years after purchase. On models with screwed-on buckles, a damaged buckle can be replaced easily.
The whole skate does not automatically need replacing.
Fill the gaps in your fleet
If you mainly lack particular sizes or models, you can add to the fleet in stages.
We can help identify the sizes most often missing at the hire counter.
Protective equipment
We also supply helmets and protection sets for rinks that make them available or require visitors to wear them.
Popular at permanent ice rinks
“From the very beginning, we’ve found our collaboration with Nijdam to be very pleasant and professional. The quality of the skates and additional products is excellent, proven to withstand intensive, daily use at all our 14 ice rinks which are open all year round.”

Practical questions
We use another supplier. Do we have to switch everything at once?
No. You can add to or replace a fleet gradually. If you already use Nijdam skates, we can also supply their spare parts and liners.
How quickly can you deliver?
Much of the rental range is held in stock in Leerdam. We confirm availability for the specific models, sizes and quantities you need.
We operate several rinks. Can purchasing be managed centrally?
Yes. We can work with one contact for multiple locations. Delivery can be centralised or, by arrangement, divided between sites.
Why do some Nijdam rental skates have dual sizes?
One pair covers two consecutive sizes. This can reduce the number of size variants in a fleet and make handing out skates at the counter easier. It also improves the chance that the first pair offered fits, reducing size changes.
What does replacement or expansion cost?
That depends on the models, quantities and size mix. We can prepare a no-obligation quotation based on your current fleet and what you need to add.
Why do the hard-boot rental skates have no separate tongue?
In intensive hire use, a separate tongue can wear or become damaged. Instead, the front edges of the liner overlap. They close the opening over the instep and help keep cold air out. Removing the separate tongue also removes a vulnerable part, helping the liner last longer.
Can we try a pair first?
Yes, on request. Tell us which model and size you would like to try, and we will check availability.
Do you sharpen the blades?
No. The rink or a local specialist handles sharpening and maintenance. We can help you consider which parts to keep in stock.
Where are the skates made?
Our skates and their parts have come from a factory we have co-owned in the Far East for more than 20 years.
More from your rink
We are also happy to discuss maintenance, product life, the hire counter, quieter periods and local activities.
You know your rink and visitors; we bring product knowledge and experience.
Partner with Nijdam
From rink boards and banners to flags and screens, an ice rink offers many places where visitors see a brand. We are open to long-term partnerships with rinks that can give Nijdam visibility in return for terms agreed in advance.
